Lunar New Year Educational Resources

Lunar New Year is a multi-day celebration that marks the arrival of spring and the start of the new year. It is widely celebrated in Asia and around the world. During Lunar New Year, families clean and decorate their homes, prepare special meals, hang lanterns, light fireworks, and attend parades with dragon and lion dances. Children often receive money-filled red envelopes from friends and family during this time. Lunar New Year ends with Lantern Festival, when young children carry lanterns around the neighborhood. Use these resources to learn about and celebrate Lunar New Year in your classroom or home. Find more cultural activities in our Cinco de Mayo resources.
