This lesson is designed for fourth graders to practice their skills with the order of operations along with multiplying fractions and adding or subtracting decimals.

In this lesson, you will teach your students how to count money to buy small items! Show students which coins they can use to buy their lunch and other small items in the classroom.

“Gong Xi Fa Cai, Hong Bao Na Lai!” This means "Happy New Year, Give me my red envelope!" Students will count coins and write the value all while learning about the Chinese New Year tradition of handing out red envelopes filled with money.

Addition and language practice go hand in hand in this lesson that uses The Very Hungry Caterpillar as an anchor text. Students practice counting on using a number line. This lesson can be used alone or alongside Math with Bears lesson.
