Week 4 of this independent study packet for third graders brings on new challenges in various subjects.

Did you know there are 6 simple machines that make up every complicated gizmo out there? This book introduces the pulley, the lever, the screw, the wedge, the inclined plane and the wheel & axle.

The activities in this workbook do double-duty as both vocabulary practice and earth science review with a collection of word scrambles, crosswords, and quizzes about animals, plants and planets.

Keep an eye on the sky! Kids will not only review important terms and concepts about the weather, they'll practice observing different weather patterns, recording temperatures and making predictions.
