How do you build spatial reasoning, critical thinking, and problem solving skills while doing something that is fun? With tangrams! In honor of Chinese New Year, this lesson introduces your students to the Chinese puzzle of tangrams.

“Gong Xi Fa Cai, Hong Bao Na Lai!” This means "Happy New Year, Give me my red envelope!" Students will count coins and write the value all while learning about the Chinese New Year tradition of handing out red envelopes filled with money.

Look out! Measurement is all around us! In this lesson, students will learn about measuring tools and how to use them. Students will work cooperatively on a fun measurement hunt, exploring and applying concepts of measurement using inches.
