Learning to type is a vital part of modern education; help elementary school students master the basics of typing with this guided lesson! In a variety of different modules themed around squirrels and gem mining, learners will practice typing letters on the home row (including S, D, F, J, K, and L) as they maintain correct finger positioning.

This guided lesson is perfect for learners in first through fifth grade. Plenty of practice with typing is necessary for young students, especially those who will use computers or tablets in school. The ability to type quickly and accurately can help students take notes, do homework, and even communicate with their friends!

As students progress in their typing skills, they'll want to branch out from the home row. This lesson introduces young typers to the top row on a keyboard, allowing them to expand their typing vocabulary and gain independence as computer users. These lessons will help kids exercise correct finger placement, typing accuracy, and speed.

Help your child practice typing the bottom row keys individually and in combination with each other accurately and quickly with these gem mining and flying squirrel typing games. Need a tip? Placing thumbs onto the space bar is a great reminder to help your child have good keyboarding form.

1, 2, 3, go! Help your child beat their words per minute game after game with these typing numbers games. Using the numbers at the top of the keyboard, your students will get lots of practice integrating numbers into their sentences and paragraphs. Try practicing these games with the numerical keyboard for a fun challenge!

Representing data on graphs makes math visual and involves some creativity and design. Plotting data using fractional units takes their learning one step further. Also in this unit, students learn to measure using both traditional units (like inches, feet and yards) and metric units, and how to convert measurements within each system. The concept of measurement gets two dimensional when students explore measuring and working with angles.

Words are the wondrous building blocks in language. This unit increases students’ word knowledge by introducing more challenging vocabulary and exploring how words are related. Learners will also discover some of the ways words are constructed using derivational root words, prefixes, suffixes, and compound words. Students will get to explore and create fun literary devices such as similes, idioms and metaphors.

Understanding how our ten number system works enables students to see interesting and useful patterns and relationships in these math activities. These patterns allow students to develop more efficient mental math strategies when multiplying by multiples of 10 or 100. Students will also review rounding and apply this skill to larger numbers - up to 100,000’s place.

Students will have a basic understanding of fractions coming into 4th grade. In this unit students will get to explore new ways of representing fractions, including in a set of data, on number lines and using area models. Students will use their knowledge of fractions to compare fractions with like and unlike denominators.
