This lesson will introduce students to intermediate map directions northwest, northeast, southwest, and southeast. It also offers practice writing functional texts using transitional words as well as both cardinal and intermediate directions.

Through examples and non-examples, students will learn what qualifies as a region. Creativity and problem solving skills will be put to the test as students determine the necessary elements that make up a region.

In this lesson, students collaborate to create a class-wide behavior contract. With your guidance, your class will develop and implement their own set of classroom rules.
