Students will engage their analytical skills and literacy skills as they compare books within a series. The central activity in this lesson will have students identifying, comparing, and contrasting the shared features of books in a series.

Show your students the parts that work together to make a person breath! Have them compare the lungs of a healthy person, the lungs of a smoker, the lungs of a city resident, and the lungs of a miner.

Understanding how titles, headings, and subheadings work together in nonfiction can help students with writing and with reading comprehension. Students will make observations about nonfiction texts and consider organization choices.
