1st Grade Math Resources

Support first grade learners as they build key math skills with Education.com’s collection of over 2,000 printable worksheets, Lesson Plans, hands-on activities, and more. Designed to align with Common Core State Standards, these resources help students strengthen foundational math understanding through a variety of age-appropriate formats.

Students begin developing number sense and operational fluency by practicing mixed addition and subtraction, exploring properties of addition, relating addition and subtraction, and solving different types of addition and subtraction word problems, all with numbers within 20. From there, students build place value understanding by exploring two-digit numbers. Activities guide learners through breaking down two-digit numbers into tens and ones and using their understanding of tens and ones to compare pairs of two-digit numbers. First graders then build on their place value understanding to add within 100 and subtract multiples of 10 from two-digit numbers. Our collection of first grade measurement and data resources builds on kindergarten concepts to help learners reach the next level, while our first grade time resources introduce how to tell time in hours and half-hours on both digital and analog clocks. Our first grade geometry resources encourage spatial reasoning with two- and three-dimensional shapes and present early fraction concepts in an approachable and engaging way, setting the stage for more complex mathematical topics to come in second grade and beyond.

Education.com supports a variety of learning styles with both print and digital formats. Teachers, parents, tutors, and homeschoolers can easily use filters to find developmentally appropriate content for instruction, enrichment, test preparation, or learning during seasonal breaks. Whether introducing a new topic or reviewing a tricky concept, our first grade math materials offer the support learners need.
