Use this lesson to support students in learning how to write three-digit numbers as number names. This scaffolded EL lesson can be used alone or as a pre-lesson for All About Three-Digit Numbers.

Students will get to explore three-digit numbers through base-ten blocks and written form. Students will get plenty of practice identifying the place values of a number both individually and with the class.

Slice those pieces and mix it up! In this lesson that follows “Slice It Up! Part One,” students will begin recognizing different ways to create equal shares in whole shapes, creating a fraction poster by the end of the lesson.
