Teach your students to create equivalent fractions by multiplying by different fraction forms of 1 whole like 2/2 or 4/4. This lesson also includes drafts of area models.

Positive role models can have a powerful impact on individuals and society. In this lesson, students will reflect on the term "positive role model," discuss positive role models in their lives, and research positive role models in history.

How well do your students know decimals? In this lesson, introduce your students to decimal multiplication using models.

Area models are building blocks to more complicated multiplication and division. Use this lesson to refresh students on the relationship between multiplication and area to prepare them to use the area models strategy with larger numbers.

Teach your students to use an area model to solve multiplication problems with a two-digit factor.

This lesson allows students to explore the concept of multiplication hands on. Kids will also come to understand why multiplication is important as well as how to solve multiplication problems using array models.

Use this lesson to help your ELs understand how to use conjunctions when contrasting information from two different characters’ perspectives. It can be a stand-alone lesson or used as support to the Whose Point Is It Anyway? lesson.

Help students visually represent multiplication with mixed numbers and whole numbers. Use this lesson as a standalone lesson, or as support for the lesson Multiplication of Mixed Numbers with Area Models.

In this lesson your students will classify two-dimensional shapes using a Venn diagram based on their features.

Challenge students to compare two strategies for solving division expressions! Students will focus on their language use in this pre-lesson to the Dicey Division lesson.

By creating an interactive notebook template, kids will help themselves remember the correct ways to use the commonly confused words to, too, two, there, and their. Young writers will love improving their writing skills with this lesson.

In this lesson, you will share with your students two books that emphasize the beauty and power of music. They will also meet two unique characters that they will compare and contrast by referencing specific examples from the texts.

Let’s start building numbers! Just as building skyscrapers is a visual representation of mathematics, students will use the visual representation of base-ten blocks to add—or build—onto a two-digit number.

Students will have fun learning the Read, Draw, Write (RDW) strategy on two-step, mixed operation problems. First they will learn RDW, and then they will practice it in a game called Four in a Row.

With this activity, students will identify shapes, build 3-D shapes, and practice describing shapes with a partner.

It’s easy as 1, 2, 3! In this lesson, students will explore the long vowels A, I, and O and learn how a silent E turns short vowels into long vowels. Students will use technology, music, and body movement to learn all about silent E.

Who doesn’t like to spend money and plan parties? Students will subtract two-digit numbers as they calculate the remaining money for their party supplies. They will subtract in multiples of ten and focus on place value.

Do your students ever want to just hurry and finish their homework? Your students can use the number line jumping strategy to quickly add two-digit numbers and show their understanding of place value and expanded form in the process.

What does it mean to expand a number? Use this lesson plan to help your students understand how to write the expanded form of two-digit numbers.

In this lesson, students will consider equations with fall pictures serving as the number value and decide which equations are true and which is a lie. The worksheets in this speaking and math lesson follow the Two Truths and One Lie game.

Compare two different ways to use tape diagrams! This lesson discusses fractions and multiplication within tape diagrams. Use this lesson as support for the lesson Illustrating Fractions and Whole Number Products with Tape Models.

Start a dialogue around area models! In this lesson, encourage students to ask questions as they multiply using area models. Use this lesson on its own or as support to the lesson Area Models and Multiplication.

Solve for the sum of two mixed numbers! They will use scaffolds such as fraction models to support the visualization of mixed numbers. This can be used on its own or as support for the lesson Sums for Mixed Numbers and Improper Fractions.

Some understandings are revealed through repeated, clear and simple steps. Use this lesson plan to teach your students to illustrate area model for products when multiplying fractions. It’s a four-step adventure!

Help your students get familiar with creating models for unit fractions with this hands-on activity. Students will get into a frenzy creating many unit fraction models to reference as they learn more about fractions!

Increase your students' knowledge of fractions with this lesson that has them compare fractions with different denominators.

In this lesson, students will construct their own number lines and bar models to find equivalent fractions.

Teach your students to draw an array using base ten notation to solve multiplication problems with two two-digit factors.

Give your students practice creating models with fractions from recipes! Your students will build an appetite for learning all about fractions, while “filling” measuring cup models with different ingredients to represent fractions.

Help students color-code their way to multiplying fractions! Students will learn how to multiply fractions using area models. Use this lesson on its own or use it as support to the lesson Area Models and Multiplying Fractions.
