This geometry unit engages students in analytical thinking as they learn about the properties of two dimensional figures and consider the different ways they can be sorted based on those properties. Students also learn to plot points, lines and shapes on a coordinate graph.

In kindergarten, kids will learn all about sorting and classifying. This skill is a building block for math and science concepts to come in the later grades. Knowing how to group numbers, for example, builds a key understanding of numerical concepts. This lesson focuses on sorting and classifying skills for kindergarteners, and comes complete with suggested worksheets for extended learning.

Learning how to represent numerical information is a key part of the third grade math curriculum. This lesson in data provides guided instruction designed by our team of curriculum experts and teachers to present this concept in an engaging way. Not only that, but helpful exercises help kids to see the practical applicaton of these skills in the real world.

The ability to compare numbers with ease is crucial to understanding the relationship between numbers, also called number sense. The abstract nature of number sense makes extra practice crucial. This guided lesson helps kindergarteners to learn this skill with targeted instruction and engaging exercises. Further opportunities for practice can be found in the comparing numbers worksheets suggested to go along with this lesson.

Learning to add single-digit numbers is a highlight of the kindergarten math curriculum. You can support addition fluency with this guided lesson that takes kindergarteners through an understanding of values. Kids will learn with focused instruction and practice that by putting numbers together, they get a new number. When the lesson is over, kids can continue practicing addition with our accompanying worksheets.

Representing data on graphs makes math visual and involves some creativity and design. Plotting data using fractional units takes their learning one step further. Also in this unit, students learn to measure using both traditional units (like inches, feet and yards) and metric units, and how to convert measurements within each system. The concept of measurement gets two dimensional when students explore measuring and working with angles.
